On the cheap end, there are the dollar vans of Brooklyn. On the expensive, technological end, is now Bridj. If transit authorities contracted out their bus routes (like London), this type of service could spread faster and stop governments from bleeding so much money running inefficiently routed, scheduled, and, most importantly, sized busses. There will always be slow, local, night, and other money losing bus routes. But that’s no reason for the entire system to be a failure.
